[0.29 Graphics] Shards, Ore, etc not shown on map

Started my second game, but the map came up with no shards, no ore, etc.  I moved the mouse cursor around and found that the tooltip popup in the lower right corner was showing that objects were there:

This didn't happen on my first game last night.

dxdiag is here

Update: Got an error on posting, and my screenshot has been thrown away.

Can't get the screenshot imbedded in the post.  Maybe it's because the forums are so slow tonight.  Anyway, you should be able to find it here.

For me they don't appear immediately, but when I move a nearby unit, then it starts showing.

Don't know if it is the same problem.

Same thing... initially I thought it was the other way around... that the problem was showing tooltips of objects outside visual range... But no, it seems fairly common. I have to scan an area manually to see crates or whatever or just keep wandering around and hope.

End of Dr's quote

Aye, LoS shown on the map by units and their real range of detection of stuff doesn't overlap.

We were looking into this one, but it's proving more elusive than you'd imagine. From my undersanding, the issue (in code) is that Goodie Hut and Resource objects think they're hidden under FOW even when they're not. THe second time you 'unhide' them is when they properly get unhidden.

A few possible culpits...

- For MP reasons, the game now properly keeps track of FOW for all players (before, non-local player's would only store what objects they knew about).  Some underlying functions got tweaked and may be at fault.

- A new tactical icon maager was added to speed up the rendering of the tactical map. SOmething may not be triggered properly when the first 'unhide' is fired.

- Streamlining of the FOW code so that, when you move, it dosen't check for new visible objects in areas you know about.

We'll keep looking..till then, you may get some pleasant suprises behind you as you move forward :)

What's happened in my last few games is that on the first turn, I see the resources immediately around me, but no others (even if I control-U), but when I found my first city and make the first move with my sovereign, all of a sudden they all show up.

It could be useful to have a tab in the options menu with all hotkeys and one hotkey allowing to refresh display.

I really struggled to find an ore earlier... I knew it was there from the mousover... I built a city and had to snake along with huts to find it. (Building adjacent did reveal it, being in city visual radius didn't)

Still good luck with tracking it down... It's odd that it gives you the pop-up which I would have thought meant it was now "unhidden" at some level, as it's fully hidden and shouldn't display the pop-up in the FOW...which makes it sound like the tactical icon manager not registering it. Still isn't game breaking, just mildly annoying. Not sure how high a priority each bug is... BSOD, CTD...... all others...then balance?

In .291 I only get this bug after loading a saved game, never on a new game.
