[1g][Bug?] Research issues

Been playing some tonight, and I've been seeing odd research issues. In one game, I never was able to get Orchards researched, so I couldn't use the one I had right next to a town.

I've never seen tech for mines or quarries at all, though I see those resources on the map. I had Civilization up to 20 and largely stopped getting new techs, but didn't see anything.

(I've also never seen a Shard of any type in 1g, so I can't really tell how magic is working since I can't seem to cast any spells.)

For me there was the problem that first distance weapons (sling, etc.) have not shown up on the unit design screen.

This Tech was my first (lucky) warfare breakthrough.

Mines were missing in 0.29, should be fixed in the update (0.291).

I beleive there was also a fix involving equipable items getting unlocked and showing up in the unit designer.  Let us know if I'm a liar and 0.291 fixes neither of these ;)

Bows and Slingshot are still not showing up in .291 or maybe I'am just missing something...But I could not find those

Mines are now showing up but I think the "random" aspect of researching technology could stand a little tweaking.  I just played a partial game (CTD) where I had researched level 20 in Civilization tech but never discovered housing.

In .295 I have had problems getting housing, although I have never gotten to level 20 of anything without crashing.  But housing seems like such a core tech all civs should be able to get it, unless they have some other super housing trick.  Otherwise it would be hard to get a city of any decent size.
