Elemental Beta 1G will be this week

Last week we got bumped due to the ImpulseTV launch and the Sins of a Solar Empire update (both happened on Thursday which was our beta update).

So this Thursday we expect to release beta 1G.

Questions?

Q: Will it be fun?

A: No.

Q: Will it at least not cause my eyes to bleed?

A: No. It will still cause eye bleeding.

Q: What about the root kits? Does this beta get rid of the root kits?

A: No. Our malware requires the root kits to be installed.

Q: Does it at least quit uploading my .XLS files to a server in China?

A: Yes. It now only uploads .XLSX files and now it’s to “the cloud”.

Q: Okay then what IS new in this build?

A: Lots.

Q: Can you be more specific?

A: Yes.

Okay fine. Here are some high level details:

The Dynasty system framework is in. That is, you get married, have kids, and can arrange marries.
You can get spells.
The initial customization screens are in. So you now choose your sovereign or can create your own, choose your faction, or create your own, and can use points to customize your sovereign and facgtion.
The basic quest system is in.
All of the above are still very basic (i.e. the system is in but the assets will be continually added over the next several months).
Stability should be considerably better (I hope). Memory usage should be quite a bit better.
Altar tech tree is in (and they all use it).

Of course, the above involves hundreds of new small features and changes so it will seem quite a bit different.

Q: So when will it be fun?

A: It should be fun by Beta 3. Buggy but fun.

Q: When is Beta 3 due?

A: April.

Q: What comes next?

A: Beta 2. The Multiplayer beta. That’s in March.

So, let me get this straight: each of the 10 nations will have their own tech tree, but only 1 such tree is currently finished so they're all using the same one? But eventually as you finish them the others will have their own? What about custom nations? Do you choose one of the 10 trees to mimic, or will the be a generic 'custom nation only' tech tree, or some other system? Or did I just open up a huge can of worms you hadn't gotten to yet?

More importantly, will the game still scratch deep, ever-burning furrows in the surface of my hard drive and/or mortal soul if it detects that one or more of the infamous rootkits is removed/blocked?

Lastly, does your crash generator still favor generating a crash in situations where the AI player is losing, or will it now crash the game at true random intervals regardless of the situation?

I bought mine in October and will have to wait until Next Month to play te Beta.

however, due to a miscommunication I had thought that "Beta2" was coming out at the end of November, so for a little while my hopes were quite too high

However, Its possible that I might not start testing until Beta 3, I guess for me it depends whether the Multiplayer in Beta 2 will be at all competitive or strictly Exploratory. Sure pong doesn't have good graphics or tactical battles, but at least its competitive

Im not exactly sure how bad the memory leakages are, or what the repercussions are for a computer. Currently my laptop is NEW ... should I be worried???

A more realistic Dream Answer would be "Sure, Ghost. But remember, you've brought this upon yourself. Soon you will be clawing out your eyes from sheer, liquid not-fun as we write our autosaves to your boot sector and overwrite your .inis with our crash reports. P.S. You should remove any and all personal data from your PC before installing the beta, as some or all of it may be uploaded to remote servers during the installation process."

I'll make sure to have some money in my account in March, but according to past history I don't expect Beta2 untill June! maybe I will be pleasently suprised in mid April but I doubt it. I ordered in October. Did I mention I like dissapointment. Just kidding take all the time you need to make this right, I want to be enjoying this game well past 2015 if the world last that long!
