Bastards

. . . or do you remember that one night where you got really drunk at the Urxen bachelor party

So, if we're going to have dynasties, marriages, heirs, etc, will there be bastard children born out of wedlock?  It might be interesting to use this idea as part of the quest system.  If you take too many turns to rescue the princess or queen, she's pregnant when you finally do.  Cheating spouses could have diplomatic consequences.  Bastard heirs could be welcomed as a new and unexpected hero or could pose a threat to your kingdom, arriving with an army you'd have to deal with.

Just a few thoughts.  I'd love to hear any ideas it stirs in anyone else.

That would be... inglorious.

XD

As part of some quests and random events could be very nice. In the good and bad sense of having a bastard child.

That would be a nice addition to the dynasty system.

This would be great. Quests and rebellions and more heroes and every now and then your wife can get jealous and kill some of them out of spite. This would be one of the reasons to either go harem route or not pick a hero for wife.

Bastards were one of the best aspects of Crusader Kings, a game which also focuses heavily upon dynasty systems.  Getting too frisky with the nearest milkmaid or turning a blind eye to your husband/wife's philandering not only resulted in the occasional pissed off and homicidally-motivated spouse, it also presented opportunities for full-blown succession wars.  I hope Elemental will have at least some functionality for the same sort of consequences.

Sounds like fun to me....... I've always been rather critical of the unusually high degree of maritality exhibited in most fantasy works... seems like once and a while you'd find a race that does things differently.

I managed to sire 12 bastards with one Byzantine Emperor I was playing.  Half the fun was checking up on them several generations down the line to find out where/how their progeny were.  The great-great-great grandson of one poor bastitch wound up becoming King of England. |-)

Perhaps a race with some sort of seduction unit to get you heroes with the powers and bloodline of some of your opposing sovereigns.  Not sure how that'd work in multiplayer, though.

Would be a great idea adding new possible heroes/npcs, quests and general flavour! Always a good thing.

Something to do for the summoned succubi/erinyes and vampire queens. Seduction would also be an interesting possibilty to use on opposing heroes or to maintain loyalty of own vassals who may be unhappy with sovereign`s decisions.

That would be awesome. Assign a succubus to a hero. Keeps him loyal, and if he somehow fails to stay loyal, you can have the succubus pop his heart out while he sleeps.  <3  idea.
