Constantly Appearing Quests/ Event Quests

Not sure if theres a thread for this if so someone tell me and ill get rid of this

One thing i hate in games is you play through the game doing a bunch of quests and you expand out and all and suddenly theres no quests to do inside your previously "conquered zones." Id much rather the game has quests randomly appear and then you can go and do them so theres always a new dungeon to raid to go into so you dont just go clearing your land of quests and having to go furthur and furthur away for more in short im saying do one quests another one fires up somewhere.

Another thing that would be cool was if there were quests that spawned alot at once because of some event like some warlock warlord has summoned an army and suddenly theres undead hordes all over the map you gotta defend and maybe stop the war your at with someone else to help defend against this new threat that has emerged would be fun.

Any input?

The current solution for this is to actually have tiers of Quests, which are unlocked via the Adventuring research path. This way, Questing (with all it's powerful loot and other experience bonuses) becomes a stategic choice you get to make as your nation expands.

I think he doesn't only speak about "big" or "easy" quests, but quests that appears IN your borders, instead of outside.

Maybe quests related to things that belongs to your empire. So a bigger empire means more quests triggers.

AoW would do something like this. The spirits you did quests for would drop a group of neutral critters at some random location and give you 10 turns to kill them. TBH though, would rather avoid AoW's system. It often had impossible quests or things that were painful. Nature spirit giving you quests to smash forges and such.

I mean though what if ive reached the last teir of the adventuring tech. I have done all the quests and annomolie sort of things in the near vacinity of my "known/inhabited" region. I dont want to always have to go adventuring out for new ones going furthur and firhtur away all the time. I feel no matter how long i play there should still be some quests to do around my home. Maybe not as many quests like the frequency of them being formed could be low but the occasional quests would be nice to be found at home. What if i was playing a dreadfully large map for a couple of weeks and ive done all the quests around my kingdom so i go out to do others. Eventually i feel i need to bring my heroes and armies back to my home which could be a heck of a long ways away. I shouldnt have to go all the way back to the edge of where i have explored to do more quests there should be a couple new things that have popped up on my map since ive been gone maybe some cyclops or something has stumbled out of a forest and now needs slaying but was no big deal at the start as no one knew he was there. Does anyone get what im getting at...sorta what vieuxchat has said.

Well, I like the idea of some quests popping up in your own territory, and I definately get your point about "clearing an area" of quests or dungeons.  But I think it's critical that most quests are done outside of your territory, or at least a lot of the important ones.  Part of the point of quests is to experience interesting things along the way.  In my D&D sessions, I always make the journay to the quest objective or dungeon just as interesting and harrowing as the location they are traveling too.  Think about what made the Hobbit so interesting.  It was the journey.

I think one possible take at this would be to tie in quests with events and mega-events.

Let's say there is an event: "brigands appeared in your kingdom and prey on caravans" - than the sovereign can either live with the losses, train troops and guard caravans, train big army and look for/eliminate the threat or pursue a quest path 2 or 3 quests long to find and deal with the threat adventurer style.

example: 1 quest  defend 1 caravan with your heroes

2 quest find the lair of brigands with information from quest 1

3 destroy/recruit/mind control/... the brigands in the lair.

more elaborate and longer quest paths would be possible for other events:

appearance of a volcano,

army of darkness is attacking,

wood spirits are seen in the woods...

imo it would make the game more flexible giving the sovereign more possibilities to deal with different situations  and make sure the adventuring tech will stay useful throughout the game.
