Kinda new

The ONLY way to get in the beta is to preorder via impulse. Pre-ordering at a store will not get you in. As to the when, there is usually a small window around the opening of the beta, so it usually is not just people already on the pre-order list, but also people who buy within whatever time frame that Stardock will lay out.

The beta will remain open for some time. As such, you do not need to pre-order prior to the beta opening. In fact, if you wish to use Paypal as payment method, you can only do so when the beta is open.

Impulse is the only way to acquire the beta. Any version of the game will allow you to download it through Impulse on release, but the beta is only for people that order directly at Stardock/Impulse.

 

ok thanks for the info i will wait a few weeks have to provision my game budget wiith march being so brutal with bad company 2 and supreme commander 2.i did at least pick up soase deplomacy lol.

I'm not even sure if you can get make it in a few weeks. Beta 1G is supposed to come out this week(i think) but new playes don't get in until Beta 2.

What is with the self entitlement people have? You know he can't answer a question like that without a million others spawning. So you won't get a confirm or a deny. If you are so poor (not a knock, I know times are rough) that its a major issue on your finances then just hold out for Beta 2.

i already preordered last week,has nothing to do with "being poor"and no i dont know that he cant answer my question.i dont spend every waking hour on these forums.i havent been on this site for to long.would just be nice to know if i have something to look forward to this week.no need for rude comments.

Two words: Common Sense. use it.

Probably not until they announce beta 2 will it open up again.  At this point it doesn't look like that will happen until early march.

New players won't get in until Beta 2 which is currently scheduled for March 18th.

Common sense, as in Frog couldn't give you an Individual yes or no. Though I did overlook the possibility of a Blanket statement Yes or No. As he has given a Blanket Statement no. It has nothing to do with awesomeness and everything to do with anyone with any common sense would realize that the devs can't give answer such questions on an individual basis like the way you phrased your question. Duh. Think, Mcfly, Think.

Noooo! I'm burning you in effigy. Oh well, I've waited 15 years for a sequel, what's another month. From everything I've read on this site, it sounds like the beta itself is going to be awesome, let alone the full game.

luckily there are soo many good games coming out in feb/march most importantly supreme commander 2.....even if they did dumb it down

Just for the record: is that date still up after the new delay for 1G?
