Release date?

Hello everybody. Is this game really going to be released next month? I only find early beta videos on Youtube... I really need something to replace Master of Magic. Dominions didn't do it, Age of Wonders II came close, will Elemental cut it?

For now, I'll say this - the artwork looks stunning!

All the best.

Hello. It's not going to be released any time soon. Still in Beta 1 (of 5). Maybe around september...

Edit:

Beta schedule --> https://forums.elementalgame.com/363844

And according to Stardock, the release will be: "When the consensus is that this is the best turn-based strategy game of its kind available.". It's going to be a looong wait.

But, for who pre-ordered after Beta1 closing date, they will be able to get beta2, aren't they? And, I know it can be postpone, but as today, it should be in February, right?

End of February is Beta 2 (if everything goes well) and yeah, if you have preordered a bit late for Beta 1, you are still fine for Beta 2+.

Hi everyone.  Sorry for interrupting a post with something off-topic, but am I the only person that sees only part of the "view all edits" button?  It is the forum button below the reply, next to the "thumbs up" karma button, the "report" button, and over from the "reply" and "quote" buttons?

IE 8 here.

Yes, I see only part of the "view all edits" button. Clicking it works as expected so I haven't made it much of a concern.

I'm using Firefox here.

Ah, ok.  For a moment I thought it was my graphics were messing up on me.  I had a glitch last night after messing around with a MOM and  Dos Box last night.  Okay, good to know that it isn't just me... thanks.

The last turnbased fantasy game with tactical battles I can think of would be HoMM 5 and its expansions.

Let's just hope that the tactical battles do not make the game easier in the sense that you need to actually battle them yourself in order to win. A game that does this is the Total War series.

In those games you can auto-resolve every battle as well. When you do this however you get some really dodgy results. therefore you should just fight the battle yourself. If you do so, the Ai employs such bad tactics that you can win the battle by just keeping in formation. It has very little to do with tactics once you get the hang of it, and you will be able to consistently win at supposedly very poor odds.

This ruins the Total War series for me since it no longer matters how well you do on the campaign map because the AI cannot win battles. The Ai is absolutely retarded in that game. therefore I lean more towards a Civ kind of approach where placement on the map is everything and the battles are resolved instantly. Since that is not going to happen I would just like to see MoM kind of battles where the gameplay is nice and simple so the AI can actually hold his own and challenge the player and have a good chance to win when it should.

I agree. That totally ruined the total war series as well for me.  Being able to often win when outnumbered 5 to 1 or even higher was just rediculous.

Master of Magics 2 or Age of Wonder, but i rather have Lords of Magics 2. Funny i just ordered Lords of Magics from ebay, though i never see it again.

I lost my previous one. Lords of Magic happen to be the most stunning and beauiful fantasy game i ever played.

For those who never heard/play it before, here some infos. really looking for it, there some on ebay just type in the name under video games tab. Here the link about the game...

There are plenty of Mods that fix the AI issues and add TONS of content to the total war games. www.twcenter.net

Elemental will indeed be the new MoM for today's generation. I honestly expect it to be just as good if not better then the original in almost every way. If fantasy war games are your cup of tea you'd be hard pressed to miss out on this one my friend.

P.S. Nice name. Taken from the Forrest of Wayreth in Dragonlance right?
