One of the things I loved about Masters of Magic was the many different racial kingdoms and the many different units (A vast array of humaniods and beasts). I saw this post and it has me very excited.
"Early on I made the stupid mistake of saying there are only two races in Elemental. There are lots of different races but they only come from two canon sources: Natural beings (like Men) and unnatural beings (The Fallen). The creature you see on this page would be a type of Fallen creature but is clearly not humanoid. While we won’t have elves, orcs, unicorns or fairies in the game, we intend to let people easily create their own (i.e. if you want your Half-men race complete with its own body, tech tree, magic spells, ability to farm faster, etc. you can do this). I imagine eventually players will have hundreds of different “races” (species) to play against."
Sounds like you guys are aiming at lots of variety without going for the classic fantasy races. I hope the many different kingdoms and empires that ship with the game have very unique appearances and abilities (Galactic Civilizations 2). It would be very cool if several empires on the fallen side was not humaniod and/or were monstrous in appearance. Looking at the picture of the dog like fallen you guys seem to be headed in this direction.
Additionally here are some other ideas on my wishlist (yes I know it is late in the game but a man can hope).
Please let us have multiple nonhuman units with the kingdoms of men and the empires of the fallen that we can customize (for the fallen if they are monstrous you could maybe add certain limbs). I've looked at the artwork you guys have shown for your dragons and other creatures and I want them on my team(a variety of big boys). I've heard that through adventuring you will be able to get dragons in addition maybe have some lesser creatures as a resource like how Civilization had horses and elephants and have some guys big and small be summonable only such as elementals. You could also set some intelligent exotic races up as minor kingdoms (like the minor races in GC 2). Say a small kingdom of beastmen (failed experimental fallen that have banded together). They aggresively defend their own territory but are not expansionists. You could have all the diplomatic relationships you had with the minor races in GC2 and with some money you could hire the services of maybe a powerful unit of these guys for your army.
If we are a natural race and we capture the town of another natural race can we still have that race in the town to build units from? This seems like it would be pretty cool (not holding my breath on this one though)
