Updates and patches - Are they automatically?

Hello!

I am new at Impulse Driven, and would like to know, please, if the updates and patches to the games are automatic, similar to what happens on Steam.

It depends on the settings within Impulse that you choose. I believe they can be automatic or you can turn them off and update your programs/games manually.

Usually an updates tab appears if any are available.

The updates happens due to the Impulse Client? Are all the games launched from it?

You get the updates from impulse but the games run on their own, so you could update your game uninstall impulse and still play.
