Elemental war of magic multiplayer

I was  kind of curies befor me and my freinds pre order this game or order this game at all we wanted to know if it had a grand style multiplayer where each player rules there own kingdom can play the game just like single player and if so how many players could play at same time over LAN ?

 

we have been looking all over web with no answear to this it seems, except hints here and there that there maybe some type of multiplay.

There will be some multiplayer, but seeing as most players pley single player they are putting more effort into that.  There is a section of the beta devoted to multiplayer stuff.

Yah i just seen that, today when i was looking around at beta, trying to get information on game.

 

Me and my freinds use to play Master of magic Turn based game dos back in back in the day, we play alot of civlization and sins, and MOO2 lan now along with left for dead 2, I guess it be nice to get some more LAN love froms tardock we love Sins alot cuz of its LAN abilty.

 

but we like our mutilplayer games nothing better then haning out drinking beer and spending weekend or so hitting up a game.

I guess they are adding mutiplayer in beta 2 ?

  1. Initial build provides basic multiplayer (player hosted – client/server)  -  "I guess I am not to sure what basic multiplayer means? time will tell i guess."
  2. Beta 2B: Stardock hosted option.
  3. Beta 2C: Stardock hosted persistent games
  4. Beta 2D: Stardock hosted persistent universe game (persistent dynasties)

I was reading I found a review that said something about it hinted that it may be full style game play. like in civilaization 4 or 3 where you can play on lan with freinds. every one to there own devices.

There's bound to be a LAN option, which would basically be single player but with humans as opposed to AIs (although there could still be AIs as well) like in Civ IV

Afaik, last I heard (keep in mind that I'm not as active as I used to be) there'd be no LAN. All multiplayer will take place on Stardock's servers.

On the number of players, I'd say that multiplayer with anything less than 8 players would just be strange.

Are you sure there's no LAN?  The Beta schedule, the way I read it anyway, seems to point otherwise:

 

  1. Initial build provides basic multiplayer (player hosted – client/server)
  2. Beta 2A: Persistent stat tracking
  3. Beta 2B: Stardock hosted option.
Notice #1 is "player hosted client/server".  That says to me you're running your own show, not going through Stardock ala the Beta 2B option.

Our intention is to allow players to set up dedicated servers that they can control.

The typical scenario will be to just play on our servers. But we would like to see people be able to set up their own servers.

Anyone ever play Stellar Frontier? We did much the same with that game back in the day.

yey for multiplayer
