Research in 1C

First, hooray, the game is finally stable enough I can sometime play for 75-100 turns without CTD! Very nice! However, turns were still really sluggish, selcting cities and units was painful click click click ah finally got it!

I decided to check out the new research features, and was really looking forward to things greying out. Right now it appears that techs do not change colors at all. At research level 6, the items that were green at level 1 were still green, the items that were yellow at level 1 were still yellow (they never turned to green) and I had a truckload of red items (I believe at this point I had one green, two yellow and about 20 red techs. So that is obviously not working as intended. It was interesting though becuase at level 4 I had about 6 options appear to choose from (got lucky on a bunch of red techs) but then at 5 I only had two (1 green and 1 yellow which had both been that color from the beginning).

Good news is I am betting this is an easy quick fix to get functioning properly.

Thanks again for letting us participate this early in development.

I'm still distrusting the tech system...... it looks like a lot of necessary techs are yellow and even red,and they don't ever seem to change. It looks like they're implimenting a system where techs change colors after a certain amount of turns pass...... if so it would probably be painful waiting for stuff to become viable while your hard-built RP structure languaishes and your enemy catches up because (s)he was slower in the first place........

I can confirm that researched techs don't change color even 9 deep into a field.

I was able to research everything in civilization and warfare. I got to level 12 or 13 in them to get the last techs.

Anyway, I replayed Master of Orion 2 last night and the research system is almost the same, and it never bothered anyone.

I just hope there will be some kind of "situationnal" techs (if you start near mines you'll have a better chance to get the "mines" tech.

Actually each level you research should make older research items going closer from red to yellow to green finally. It's not bound to the number of turns.

not sure if this is abug or design but if you only have red techs you have a chance of not getting any breakthroughs
