Did you submit your crash report to the bug tracking system as described in this thread?  Please see the 5th paragraph under the heading "What kind of detail should you give" in that post.  In addtion to your debug.err, the developers would like to see the memory dump produced by the crash.

Sadly yes. In fact, I've downloaded the update, and it's crashed immediately after the first launch. >_>

Hmm.  It's failing during the copying/extraction/reading in of the XML data.

Can you try running the game as administrator?

No difference. Random crashes @ startup. However, if I run the game in compatibility mode [XP], I don't have crashes at startup. [I launched the game like 10-15 times in comp. mode so far.]

I'll just add that I too have the same crash with 2.55 as previous versions (2.4 - 2.5). Same debug as previously reported
