[0.25] gameplay speed issue in windowed mode

I switched from full screen to windowed mode to check on some bugs. I'm noticing right now that in windowed mode the game is playing horrendously slower.

Not sure exactly how to report this or what kind of data you might want. Please respond with anything that could be useful for debugging.

Tried playing in full screen some more. A few turns into the game I'm noticing the same speed issues as the game slows down dramatically.

Figured out the problem.

I turned off all the 3D related settings in the video tab. Game works like a charm now.

So apparently even on the cloth map the 3D engine was using up a ton of resources in the background doing who knows what. Enjoying exploring the new tech trees now that I can dvance enough turns to unlock them.

I had this issue too. Crossfire two Radeon HD4850s while playing windowed. Seems that maybe it's a speed issue with the cards? I could check what speed my cards are at next time I try it.

I have this problem as well and it starts as soon as I've seen the level up screen of the sovereign or the unit desig screen. I have a Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT and have pretty recent drivers. Will update them and test again though.

On my system: Core2Duo E6750 @ 2.66 GHz, @ GB Ram, Win XP Sp2, Geforce 8800 GT, this was caused by antialiasing being set to 4x. Disabling AA resulted in fast gameplay again.

In the game or drivers?

You can disable AA in the game's video options.

I turned off all of them to be sure. I've started turning them back on last night where I turned on font smoothing and the check box next to it (sorry, don't remember which it was) with no ill effect.

Anti-Aliasing was one of those I turned off. I will probably try turning on everything except AA next and see if that is the cause of the problem.

Just for you Kryo

Have fun parsing. I exited the game from windows at the end because it was too slow to navigate to the main menu and exit normally.

I've managed to replicate this. The relevant debugs are submitted via fogbugz. I tried 4x AA, 2x AA and AA disabled. With AA enabled, the debugs are of considerable size, around 2 MB. With AA disabled, the debug is 70 KB. Also, with 4x AA, the unit design screen doesn't show the soldier model, as in the following screenshot:

Starting with 2x AA, the unit preview was visible.
