[SUGGESTION] Patrol command

A tiny suggestion

From time to time, I still play good old Empire Deluxe.  That game is arguably the earliest computer game inspiration of the Civilization series, and it had a lovely Patrol command.  You could use it to set patrol paths for your units, which they would follow until they encountered an enemy unit or you told them to go do something else.

I'd love to see a patrol command functionality in Elemental.

I didn“t play Empire Deluxe, but i also have thought about an option like that. A waypointsystem in which you could create a "loop" that a unit would follow ad nauseum if need be, would be really sweet and handy.

Its stuff like this, that would really help in reducing micromanagement.

I'm also all for this idea.  Right now I really wish Civ IV did this, especially for the ships.

I agree, there is a lot you could do with with and would cut down on micromanagement.

Yes would definitely want to see this.  I'm not a huge rts guy but Supreme Commander was a really good one and had a great implementation of patrol.  Would love to be able to set up any path for patrol like you could do in that.  Also had a great way of drawing it on the screen so you could see exactly where your units were going.

well, either way, I think a user-friendly implementation of the interface is one of the most important for such things. Civ and Total War had really great interfaces. Supreme Commander was nice ... and maybe it was just me ... but I found its interface highly lacking.

So while map zoom/ selecting units properly is higher on my list ... patrol is definitely an option I would like to see.

Also, a more concise army group selection (like each "army group" shows up as one of those circles to the left) ... and perhaps have excess buttons (or naval buttons) visible with holding the ctrl or the alt button, in order to allow for more buttons.

Want it.  Wanted it in GalCiv 2.
