A bit of early fun?

What do people think about having stardock release the official(done) unit and building editor a month or two before the game hits.  A la  Spore.

Just a thought

For spore the whole game really was just the editors. The rest of it was so simplistic and shallow that they only real reason to get the game was for the editors. With Elemental the whole game is going to have depth to it so I think that if they were going to release any early demo it should be something that has a bit of the real gameplay in it and not just a small portion of it. Maybe a demo on a small map with either a turn or time limit?

Just my two cents.

By the end the open beta will get us most of the gaming experience that we want as the game continues to adapt and change based on user input.  Stardock will also support the game a lot more than EA ever has.  I really don't think this analogy fits.

The only connection i'm making with spore is they put something out to give people a head start making there own pieces of a game.  Seems like a good idea to get people going, so when it launches there is a rich array of downloadable content.  Nothing more.

P.s.  I downloaded spore creator....never got game anyway

Since the gameplay isn't finalized at all I imagine the editors wouldn't be even close to their final stage.

yea... I'm not saying right now, I said when it is all done.  I don't know i think it's a good idea.  Can't hurt.

I've mentioned this before and I still think it's a good idea. The editor will need testing too, and it will give people a chance to get their mods ready for launch.

Hm.....we will have a unit editor? I thought that we will have to edit data files, or something like that.
