A survival sim in persistent world

Hi I have been reading may articles about E:WOM from many diffrent sources around the web. The persistent world in the multiplayer games sounds really fun But.But.
I have recently been playing a bit of dwarf fortress, another great game, and the way you can save your game, play a new fortressin the same world,or play a adventure, then save, play again. I think this not only works but makes you feel so much love for the world you have been playing in(or have been helping create. This gives great options for creating uniqe timelines that are diffrent for everyone and gives us the option of destroying are old factions as new factions. I do think this would also open up a whole new area for mods like survial sims, adventures, and other types quests and campaigns that could be played. If iam not being clear or you dont think this could ever be possible to hav a persistent world in a single player game in E:WOM or you just dont think its a good idea. Please tell me your thoughts on this.

Yah I massive likes!

Ability to swap to another faction would be good.

If It worked you would only be able to change to lessar faction as it would unbalance the game.

First off: DF ftw! *cheer*

Second: yes, it would be possible for an experience modder to create a game like what you are advocated from the elemental engine. One of the things stated by the devs is that the game itself will be pretty much all scripted except for the engine and some other critical components. This means if you are a good enough modder, you can create an elemental mod which does exactly what you are wanting. However, I would expect it would take a pretty large amount of work.

well, unless you were about to die, then perhaps it would be best to be allowed to switch to a "stronger" civ xD

Dwarf Fortress is awesome.  Talk about a living world with emergent character behavior.
