Do you have to purchace SoSE on Impulse to play the expansion?

I purchaced Sins of a Solar Empire a while ago from Game Stop and I was wondering if I had to purchace it again on Impulse in order to play the expansion.

You should be able to register your serial from Sins in Impulse which will let you update it fully and work with Entrenchment.
