You don't even know the half of it :p  The emoticons are added via Javascript, and the javascript runs client-side.  It makes no sense that everyone would all of a sudden start having this problem unless the javascript file broke, which it didn't.

Not sure how it happened, it was seemingly at random.  However, it may be related to the recent server moves that have been made.  Perhaps an IP somewhere got screwed up.  I'll have our server admin take a look.
