October 1 deadline to get into the beta

Time is running out

The deadline to get into Elemental Beta 1 ends October 1st.

But lest you think this is a call to join the beta, let me warn you, the beta is a land of horror and agony.  Even now, most of the beta testers are requiring long-term psychiatric care to continue functioning.

But if you are a true masochist, you can pre-order now and get into the beta as we are putting together the game mechanics and help mold the final game.

The game isn't so horrible, but everyone should be clear with the fact that you "play" in the beta IN ORDER TO help report bugs. And it seems not everyone is reading how to do it (not everyone is giving the debug.err nor the dxdiag. Not even a screenshot)

It's mostly because people don't read and follow the stickies labeled 'Read before posting'. 

Btw, it's worth it just to get a look at the intro video.  So awesome.

There's probably a great deal of variance between those who are able to get in the beta (all preorders I believe, right?), those who have downloaded the beta, those who have downloaded the latest update, and those who actively participate in the 'beta' part of it, namely helping report bugs and issues on the forum.  There's more posts in the beta than any other Elemental specific forum, so I imagine the percentage of beta helpers vs. pre-orderers is relatively high.

Hi.  I would like to pre-order and get into the beta, but I am currently out of work and need to know if you are charged now or later when the game is shipped.  If it's is now I guess I will have to wait, but if it is later I would love to join.  It'll give me something to do when i am not looking for a job.  I know today is the last day.  Will there be a chance to get into the other betas ie beta2 etc?

It might be to late to get in, depends if it's the start or end of oct 1. In any event, yes there will be other beta's but I believe I read you'll have to wait till the beggining of next year. Oh and the charge occurs when accepted into the beta I believe.

I guess that depends on how long it takes Beta 1 to be tested I'm sure if all goes well from the schedule like 2 months, as a guess. 

 

Beta access is currently closed, but will re-open at the end of Fall 2009.

Wow! After preordering at the end of June, I was shut off from the internet since Sep 28 due to Deutsche Telekom screwing us over our move to a more remote location. I come back online early afternoon on Oct. 1, to find the deadline for Beta entry is that very day. I scramble to Impulse to start the download, and see a line entry "Elemental - War of Magic". I click on "install", it says "Preparing download" at the bottom ... and then stops, and the line entry disappears into limbo.

Life is short and cruel, indeed.

If you already preordered (whether or not you've actually downloaded it yet) the deadline doesn't affect you--just hit up support about the download issue and they'll get you sorted.
