[Bug/Graphics] Black Screen

Black screen on world map load

I just wanted to leave some feedback in trying out the Beta 1. Currently the game appears to work great up until the main game starts. It generates a new world and then everything goes black. I see the feather pointer but nothing else and the video driver keeps failing and recovering.

EVGA nVidia 8800 GTS 320 Mb - driver version 185.85

OS : Windows Vista 64 Business

Ram : 6 GB

Processor : Intel Core i7 920

I can send you a file with all my video card information if needed. I can't think of anything else you might need.

Does this happen every time you try to start the game? Also, just curious, have you rebooted your computer since you installed the Beta?

Yes, this reproduces on every start. In addition, I've restart several times with the same effect. Tonight I updated my nVidia driver to version 190.62. Same result. I deactivated my second monitor and the effect is the same. Music plays just fine, cursor blinks periodically. Black screen.

 

I have an ASUS 260 GTX arriving Wednesday and I'll be testing with that video card as well starting then. I'm not worried about playing the game, I'm just having fun trying to figure out what component is causing the game to not display and I'm sure it's got something to do with m video card or settings. I'll keep playing around with it until something displays.

I'm not doing a good job of beta testing, I've updated my drivers to the new Beta nVidia drivers, I installed a new video card ASUS 260 GTX, AND I've installed the .24 version of Elemental. Now it works. So, we'll just see if anyone else has the same trouble because I can't locate the offending item. :)
