[Bug/Gameplay] All Experience goes to Sovereign

Experience awards for combat appear to be broken.  Post-battle reports show a gain of experience for a Level 1 unit defeating a giant spider.  The unit does not gain any experience, though, even after advancing the turn.  Instead, the experience goes to the Sovereign, even if the Sovereign is on the other side of the map.

This might be a feature. I remember one of the developers making a cryptic comment, which implied that units do not gain experience.

Even if the unit gets some experience, the sovereign should always get at least some of it. Otherwise you would be forced to keep your sovereign on the forefront to get more levels and therefore more essence even if you would rather play the MoM kind of sovereign who mainly stays in his fortress and does long range magic.

I know that someone DID say that the soverign got exp from their units exp, don't know anything else.

I think its a partially implemented feature.  They haven't done individual unit experience yet, but the sovreign is meant to get at least some experience from all combat

The units gain experience accord to the combat results, but they doesn´t accumulate, so each new combat they begin with 0 XP.

Maybe the system for what to do with the experience for units isn´t still implemented.

One question about sovereign´s experience: I have seen another sovereigns with a value of 9 for his attack skill, whereas my sovereign doesn't reach 6 (max. 5.75) even after a lot of combats (with spiders mainly). ¿Some hint about this issue?

I've found a ring that increases attack power by 5, so I assume that Sovreign had found said ring

Ah!, it´s true. It seem that there is only 2 items at this stage: the +10 hit points ring/crown and this ring that you say.

But in that case the attack value would be 10, not 9, wouldn´t it?. Because the base attak for sovereigns seems to be 5.

Your sovereign can start dressed like a warrior instead of a wizard, with a 9 attack and 7 defense.  The research bonus faction has always started this way for me.  I think it is called Parriden.

Parriden, yes, tha last of the The fallens. I began a game with this faction but probably it crashes at the very beggining or I was too much brave and lost.

But I will check it, thanks!.

I have came looking here after I noticed this.

The battle result page shows my scouts as having Start XP 0, XP gain 30, Total XP 30.  After winning several fights I realised that although this screen says the unit is being awarded XP for the battle, the XP is 'forgotten' between battles and the unit remains forever lvl 1.

Something isn't right here. :S

Either its 'as intended' but the UI is unclearly laid out, bugged, or simply not implemented.  I wonder which it is!

Ya it seems that xp goes to the sov and not the units.... but I hope that units can level up too. Like sov can level alot, heros at least level half as much as a sov and finally units level up at least half of what heros can level up. Then ya worry about your good veteran units thats been with ya most of the game... B)

This "bug" seems to be intentional, and farily permanent. Notice how the Soverign's HP ring only covers half of the circle, leaving room for XP, but the grunt's ring is full and has no such room....

If it's intentional, so be it, but I would certainly like to see regular units accrue experience through battle and become more effective, even if only slightly.

It is intentional.  The sovereign gains experience from all battles.

This is something we will be revisiting later.
