I decided to try Elemental on an old machine (in fact, the one I beta tested the original GC2 on). It starts up with music and a screen on which I see the quill cursor, and a white band in the center with black above and below, like a letterboxed TV picture. Then it goes to this garbage screen and never gets past it (at least for a couple of hours, I eventually killed it with task manager.
The machine is old, but does have a 128M ATI Radeon 9200 that supports DirectX 9.0c, and I downloaded and installed the latest driver I could find from ATI before running this.
