Driver update questions

My attempts to load the game so far have resulted in the elemental title screen, followed some music and a black screen with "version 0.22" in the lower right corner, and the game does not progress further in loading after that point.  I did get a warning about the driver not being updated enough, so before submitting a full bug report, I'm planning ot update the driver, but have a few questions first.

 

The dxdiag report for my computer says this about my card/driver:

"Card name: ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2/T2e
     Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
        Chip type: MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 AGP (0x4E54)"

1. Will this actually work with elemental?  (Since I read in a previous thread ( https://forums.elementalgame.com/363970that ) some cards might not work at all.)

 

2.  At the ATI driver web page, do I select options "fireGL", and "T2-128" as the driver options.  (Page here:  http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)    (These are the only options that seem to make sense, but to avoid borking my computer I'm just making dead sure.)

Your card should work as this page says it is a DirectX9 card, which is what is required I believe.

As for drivers, that should be the correct one.  The same drivers often work for multiple cards, and you can see the full list of cards supported in the release notes there.  Don't worry about borking your computer, as that rarely happens anymore (if it does boot to safe mode and remove the driver via Add/Remove).

The game will require a DirectX9.0c card. It may work on 9.0a/b cards too, which the FireGL is, (we're not using Shader 3 AFAIK) but we won't be guaranteeing it.

Thanks for the help here.  (It turnedout the driver didn't work for the card, but I found one that has, and I've now gone from not being able ot load the game, to not being able to play the game thanks to the "creating map" crash bug.  :)  At least this seems on par with other people.)
