Scrapping a Unit?

Has anyone figured out how to get rid of a unit once you've trained it?

I can't seem to find a way to get rid of this scout I recruited unintentionaly, short of starting a war and getting it killed that is.

The good old delete key has no effect, and it seems like something it should be possible to do.
