My game crashes to desktop some time after the Building the world-Screen is on. Tried it with 2 different maps. Graphics Driver is ~10 months old. Maybe I should update...

Donegal, your video drivers are about 4 years old.  Please try the ATI site to download new drivers. 

Your laptop manufacturer may block ATI's drivers, though.  So if they do you'll have to get new drivers from them.

Bought a modern VideoCard (Radeon HD 3650, directx10 compatible). Now it works, though the video drivers from the install cd are 1 year older than the last ones...
