Anyone get shards to do anything?

I'm at work, I mostly worked on starting games, graphic errors so I didn't 'play' much but I built a couple of shard/temples in my one sorta game, but I didn't see any changes or additions to my essence, etc.  Anyone do anything with them, they not in, or bug for me?

I got a little bar added up in the upper left for "5 fire mana" or something like that.  No magic to use it on yet, though.

Same, I got a small bar for each of the different types of shards that I built temples on. Though, they seemed to stair step if I remember correctly, rather than all being left aligned.

I took ownership of it.

With the magic system not in yet that is about as far as I would expect them to go.
