Question over 1.05.069 update

I read somewhere that one of the updates deleted some files it should not have and that the only fix was to reinstall the entire game then apply the latest update. Is this still true or not?

Confused as to how to proceed.

Thanks

On Tuesday night and maybe Wednesday morning there was a bug where SDC was deleting files.   If you have the most current version of SDC, you should be ok downloading the latest update.

The newest build is 1.01a.175 build 16

It looks like the update/download problem still exists in 1.01a.175 build 16. I've tried reinstalling SDC, but no go. The same "Invalid chunk data." error appears at the beginning of the download.
Er, I uninstalled GalCiv too, so now I don't even have an old version to play.:sniff!: Any suggestions?

I was having massive problems concerning SDC and GalCiv... updating to 1.05.069 patch for GalCiv caused it to crash automatically when i tried to start it. After talking to Cari about it for a while she said i should try using the 1.04 patch to replace the missing files i had from the 1.05.069 mishap. Unfortuneatly this cause my game to believe that it didn't exist... patch 1.04 is much safer in my opinion. As for SDC, even with the new build (16) I still have problems. Using SDC 1.01A.175 Build 16 to patch my GalCiv to 1.05.069 still causes my game to crash and I am unable to enter any channels other than the main one that SDC logs you into in chat. If i go into other channels, everything is blank and if i right-click in the blank channels my SDC crashes. Hopefully all these things will be fixed soon... i know Cari sent my debug.err and gc1.log off to the SDC people to check it out. But from what understand, my problems seem to be unique but might be occuring in a handfull of people.

Hmm... for 1.04 there was a beta phase and I think for a good reason... Why did they change that for 1.05? Well 1.05.69 works for me but 1.05.68 did not...

1.05 wasn't supposed to be a big deal, and we wanted to get it out quickly.  The governor's crash was only occurring in release versions, which somehow got through the whole dev team without anyone testing in release version, and then it took Scott and me the better part of a day to track down the problem without being able to use the debugger.

CariElf, thanks to you and the time you put into trying to help me fix my game, my GalCiv is now working perfectly. Not a single problem do I see, except some minor ones were a few event pictures have gone missing... but that is being fixed as i go along. Thank you once again.
