[BUG] Bug Laundry List

Ok, here are all the bugs I have seen so far. Some of them might already have been reported, but I'm too lazy to read all these threads, so please bear with me.:

  • The victory condition boxes just change the kingdom's name, and cannot be checked.
  • When a prompt came up asking if I wanted to sacrifice essence to build a city, I clicked "no" and the city got built anyway.
  • Each square you move costs two movement points (this might be intentional, but if it's not, it's wierd).
  • It's just a grammatical thing, but the "dorpped sack" discription should really have a "use for" in there.
  • There was some oddness with my channeler only moving at the end of a turn and moving one square to the right whether I wanted him to or not, but that went away and I could not repeat it.
  • The minimap does not exist:
  • Text appears on top of the pop-up windows when it should be hidden. The screen is from the menu, but it happens everywhere:
  • Can't screenshot this b/c in the shots it just looks normal, but when I tried to "autopilot" my channeler to a coastal tile, the icon flickered in a very rapid fasion (but stayed on the tile) and the chaneler did not move.

Will post more as they appear.

Thats on purpose apparently. When roads are built, 1 move on a road costs 1 point.

So on the subject of roads... roads will sometimes refuse to be built, other times they will go to the wrong city, and my last crash resulted from a road trying to be built through a mountain.

Is there some intwegers-only rule I'm not aware of? I think it would make MUCH more sense if the roads took away half an MP and the rest was one-to-one.

Yes, more!

  • No text @ all for fallen inns, huts, or palaces:
  • The skeleton of a long-dead creautre LAYS in a heap on the ground......
  • I think that this should be "their", not "thrir".....
  • Not techically a bug, but it does get annoying: the idem description appears EVERY SINGLE TIME I find something. Might want to make it appear only the first time.....
  • There is no way to tell if te auto-explore button is on or not. Is this just a graphics shortage, or is there supposed to be something here that is not showing up?
  • Cannot build roads: I see the select city window and click "accept", then nothing.
  • Rivers actually go INTO the sea, and are just generally wierd.
  • The tech screen says that I've unlocked "mining", but there is no such tech to select..... I should also note that there needs to be an apostrophe after the s in "worlds".
  • No models for many of the weapons... the ones I've seen (or rather, haven't seen) so far include wooden kite shield, iron dirk, and all of the leather and rawhide items. Probably just aren't in yet, but better to be safe than sorry....
  • Objects inside of the "inner" FOW cannot be clicked on.
  • "Auto Pilot" doesn't work if the destination is more than maybe 100 tiles away (haven't zeroed in on an exact number yet).
  • I fight two spiders. One dies. I wind up on the same tile as the other, and can't test to see if returning to that tile will start the fight because I run out of moves.
  • When I run into the orange faction's soverign.... nothing happens. They don't appear in my diplo window, there's no message, nothing. Even after I kill him, there is no acknowledgement of anything having occurred (although I do gain EXP and stuff: I'm saying nothing occurred DIPLOMATICALLY). UPDATE: I then declare war on another empire by invading their territory (did I mention how much I HATE unreasonably closed borders!?), and now BOTH empires (including the supposedly-de-channelered-and-defunct orange guys) show up on my diplo window.

Still going....

  • Instead of a time stamp, the load screen actually SAYS "time stamp".
  • When I reload the game, every terrein feature and every unit except for the soverign, the unit that was stacked with him, the only enemy soverign I have seen, and the spider leader (which I am assuming is their version of a soverign) has vanished. Everything I can actually click on still "THERE", but just invisible.
  • Is this game supposed to have a standard gain-HP-over-time mechainc? If there is one, it isn't working.
  • Whoa. When I clicked on the unit I had assigned to one of my disappeared cities, the whole game instantly crashed to desktop (I didn't get any sort of error message, so I think it might actually have just QUIT). When I tried again, though, everything went normally...
  • Map is now slowly scrolling to the north of its own accord.... can still control it, it only moves when I'm not doing anything.... stopped once I clicked out of the window to write it down.....
  • Still in invisible mode... when I fight the spider, the game crashes as when I clicked on my unit.
  • Great. NOW the entire planet is covered in WATER...... can still move, though.
  • The "welcome" screen appears every single time I load. Shouldn't it only appear at the beginning of each new game? Also, there should be a dash between "natural" and "Born".
  • The first turn after loading appears to have no "inner" FOW.
  • That spider sure looks like it's BETWEEN two tiles... It had gotten very close to me before while we were both on auto-pilot.... plus, now it doesn't turn when it moves!

  • Placed VERY close to other player @ game start.
  • When starting a game after killing my channeler and losing, the old map appears with the same terrein and enemies (and no soverign), but the area covered by the "first" FOW is replaced with water. I don't lose, but none of the enemies move.
  • Needs an apostrophe before the s in "ones".
  • Stiff animal hides. No "S".

Fonts didn't get installed either by Impulse.

  • Faction names do not appear in the "selected opponents" screen.
  • Why is "fallen inn" on the civilization tech progression? It's not actually unlocked.... I've noticed this with a few other buildings as well...
  • Why do spiders have a cost per turn???
  • Man, that scrolling to the west I mentioned earlier is really getting annoying.............
  • Veteran Troops is acting very strangely. It shows that it will be done in 0 turns when I first select it, then when a turn passes the blue bar fills up and the text changes to "never".
  • Units I have seen before @ some point appear briefly while moving my own people.
  • What is "9... attack", anyway?
  • Unit-in-city pop-up shows max HP, not actual HP. This guy really only has 3 left.
  • Zoomed-in city has the main building in the center, regarless of how far the other buildings extend.
  • I walked right OVER an enemy city while on "auto-pilot".
  • After defeating an enemy soverign, the unit that was stationed in one of his cities is still there, but does not interact with my channeler. I can click on him and see his stats, but he doesn't DO anything.
  • Mines are being wierd for me, too. I try clicking on the iron ore, and the mine shows up here. No CTD, but terrible lag and choppy sound.

I am having this issue also while loading a saved game.  Can't see anything besides my soverign and a spider.

Many of these have been reported already, but a good compilation none the less.

I know. But it's faster to just spit them out and not worry about being redundant.

  • I am assuming that you should only be able to build one fallen palace. I built 8, and only stoped because I ran out of room! They do stop becoming available @ upon leaving the build window, though....
  • After one of my units dies, his "hole" in the FOW remains, even after several turns.
  • Funky blue bar over the unit icons when the scrolling starts.

  • Factions don't disappear from diplo screen after killing the soverign.
  • Tried to move a stack onto another guy's land, and now no matter how many times I click yes, the warning window won't go away! (Moving map glitch is in effect, and the window closes when I click no).
  • "Goody Hut" INSIDE of a mountain range.
  • When another faction's city's border expands over your units, you get the "declare war" message, and if you click "no" you wind up in the borders and at war anyway. Can't really think of how to ifx this, except to follow the border protocol outlined here.

Great work there Scoutdog, though I think this might be premature.

If you right-click on your installed Elemental from Impulse, you have "View History" that displays the current objectives:

Elemental Beta 1 (0.22 on Impulse)
---------------------

Objectives of BETA 1 in detail:

1.We want to know if it runs okay on your computers. If it doesn’t, tell us what operating system you’re running, video card (dxdiag is a useful tool), CPU, etc. The more hardware info, the better.

2.As has been mentioned, beta 1 will NOT be fun in any way. We are not kidding about this. Our objective with this first build is to get the parameters on which the game runs, how well it runs.

End of quote

Since version 0.22 is working well on my computer (except for the expected ALT-Tab problem) and there's still so much to add, I'm just enjoying this actual fun build for now. :)

Well, better early than late.... all I have to lose is a few gigs of ImageShack server space.....

  • Shouldn't this be just "Firebay"?
  • Starting a new game after one has already been loaded REALLY wierds everything out..... I'm beginning to see a standard pattern where every large square outside of your sight range is replaced by water and all your cities become invisible. The city-build window also got "stuck".
  • No matter what I select on the "choose opponent" screen, I always wind up going at it against Kraxis, Yoren, Capitar, and Resoln. If I play as one of them, they are replaced by Altar.
  • When I hit "retreat" after auto-piloting to the same square as an enemy, I wind up all the way back to where I started my turn.
  • Even after I retreat from a fight with a channeler (i.e. did not engage him), the diplo screen switches to "war".
  • My city actually expanded across the border into another's territory.
  • I've unlocked several prestige bonuses and built several prestige-raising buidings, but I have yet to see my prestige rise beyond 10.

In that last picture, I'm simply amazed that there are 3(!) fertile land spaces in a row.

Never thought I'd say this, but I actually appear to be runnig out of bugs!

  • The air shard description should read "the shard reflectS the sky above".
  • The fire shard description should read "left over from the old days".
