Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy

Ironclad and Stardock are teaming up once again on the second micro-expansion pack for Sins of a Solar Empire .  Dubbed, Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy, the new micro-expansion pack will vastly increase the amount of diplomatic options available to players in the game and help make forging good relations with other empires a major option for would-be galactic conquerors. The beta is due out this Fall with the general release Winter 2010.

Seriously, why does Ironclad take so long to make the so called Mirco-expansions? In the time it takes them to make one, a company like Bethesda could churn out three. Well, maybe Ironclad takes longer to give it more polish. (answered my own question there, maybe there is a different reason, then :P )

No, i was talking about the changes in supcom2, if you've been to those forums lately it's not pretty... the entire community (practically) is screaming NO!!! and the devs are just laughing to themselves... But let's not drag that fight here, forged Alliance was an improvement IMO over the original, just took some getting used to.

only forums i've ever perused are these, so i have no idea what the fight is over. maybe i'll check it out

On top of which, the scale of Entrenchment compared to the scale of Horse Armor is...  vastly different.

Considering that most of the stuff released to oblivion is user made... then I dont think bethesda deserves most of the credit there hehe.

but back to sins... with respect to a sp campaign then I am split... so far stardock have not made any decent stories in any of their games (that I have played)... but they have brought to us brilliant and fun gameplay both on and offline. So my wish is that they keep focusing on their strenghts there instead of spending time on some non memorable story like most companies chun out. Perhaps even going into createing a modding community to strenghten their position on the strategy game market. I am sure there are lots of modders out there who would love to recreate their favorite scifi series into sins.

Kol Needs horse armour TBH

I'm very wary about this.

First, the diplomacy in Sins is really bad and needs changing.  That's fine.

But 'diplomacy tech'?  Diplomacy ships?  Cluttering up the game more isn't necessary to fix the mission-based diplomacy (hell, allowing the player to accept missions or propose them would pretty much instantly fix the diplomacy as it stands).  Yet Another Tech Tree and single-use ship doesn't sound like a good direction to go.

Entrenchment was great though, so ... we'll see.

well it sounds like the new envoy ship has many uses, from bolstering treaties to sabotaging and taking over enemy planets

This is a truly appreciated move by Ironclad/Stardock to expand upon the diplomatic aspect of soase. Though simple and functioning in it's current state, diplomacy is a big part of the game that needs some major upgrades.

The AI sometimes behaves too erratic and the mission penalties don't always make sense. So far what I've heard about the Xpansion sounds really good. So Iam realy looking forward to this micro-expansion, just as I was with entrenchment.

The better question is how does Kitkun constantly respond to posts minutes after they are posted???

I've suspected for quite some time now that Kitkun is in fact a witch in fox' clothing, rather than the much-assumed fox in witch's clothing.

 Diplomacy ships?
End of Pnakotus's quote

Not to defend the idea of Diplomacy Ships, but, it does have a basis to go from. Remember in the beginning of Star Wars when Vader boards Leia's ship? She says it's a "Diplomatic Envoy".  It's one ship transporting a diplomat (the princess). Just a thought. I have no idea how these ships will be used in Sins Diplomacy.

I got really courius about the SupCom 2 "problems". Could anyone sum it up, or do I have to spend an hour or two reading a rabid forum?

What part of winter ? These begin 2010 or these end 2010 ? Knowing the usual delay for release, i bet on Christmas 2010...

Software devs got tired of customers flying off the handle every time a project was late by a day, so the industry as a whole is moving towards "seasonal" release timeframes.
