I kind of probed about this in the last survey, just wanted to share and hear a little more in depth of how you like to play.
I like trying lots of different approaches to see what works, but this is the "persona" that just feels right to me and is how I like to play when in SINGLE PLAYER mode. In multiplayer, all bets are off!
As far as diplomacy goes, my character is to typically be willing to be friends with AI, but I don't really push for diplomacy. I tend to trade and otherwise work with AI players on good faith. However, if I am ever backstabbed, I do not give my trust again. I may come to peace treaty, as long as I can make it costly enough on the AI. Otherwise, I pretty much become their avowwed enemy until one of us is dead. I pretty much just want to be left alone to build my kingdom without interference, at least until all of the available land is controlled. Then I tend to turtle rather than being the aggressor.
As far as expansion - I pretty much expand as quickly as I can until I start running into other players. Then I stop expanding to solidfy my holdings and from then on I am pretty conservative about expanding, making sure I have the forces to defend any new settlements.
Research - although I don't prefer to go for the "Tech" VC, if available, I still prefer to win by superior tech. In other words I go for conquest victories that are based on out teching my opponent. I usdually build only enough units to be able to turtle and focus on goin far up the tech tree, then when fighting becomes necessary I start cranking out masses of highly equipped troops.
Alignment - I tend to be mostly neutral with a tendency toward the light side as long as the game isn't designed to make good=stupid. I tend to be much more lawful than chaotic.
Probably the two biggest traits I would describe my Avatar as would be Honorable but also Vengeful - if you screw me I WILL take you down with me if that is the best outcome I can achieve. This goes double for a "good" civilization, i.e. I almost expect the backstab from the evil guys, but if a so called good ally turns on me in a moment when my jugular is exposed - it's personal, and I will throw everything I have at them.
Anyway, I am not expecting anyone to give anything away about their multi-player - but tell me about your Single Player in game avatars.
