Can someone please tell me what they mean when they say "kiting fighters". It sounds like it needs a lot of micro

Manually telling them where to go! Ie selecting all your fighters, pressing "shift" if memory serves me right and sending them on predefined routes around the grav well to occupy the enemy fleet!
Kiting anything means that you are running around and the enemy is following afterwards(like playing with a kite). Some kite carriers around the grav well to decrease the amount of dps the carriers get hit with. You can kite other things around like scouts but other than that there is not much call for it.
