What id like to see in next (soon) dev journal.

Information on Channeler creation.  Just playing MoM again last night (And soon again now) and seeing that old game and all the options for your wizard creation I'd love to see the some of the stuff we'll be able to do in Elm.  Or might be able to do anyway, heh.

Good idea.

I would like to see more about:

tactical battles and then creature/item/structure etc. creation/upload to the elemental vault

"It was all a hoax."

Failing that, the dungeons/quests, random DnD parties and natural/neutral features and creatures.

Maybe events.

I'm more interested in actual solider / item creation. I want to know to what extent can the player manipulate a soldier's / item's stats. (One could say if you were allowed to manipulate these stats enough you could create a....... Super Soldier or weapon.) I wouldn't complain however if the next journal was on Channeler creation or Tactical Battles.

Anything new is welcome. If it comes with screenshots, even better. If it includes when they will select the people for alpha test and do the lotto thing (which I suppose that it would be close to the relase date of the alpha), even more better.

moar about the cloth map and how it is generated differently every game

How will it work, what kind fo spells, magic crystals. The works.

I've been really curious about tactical battles. Stardock has a great track record with 4x type stuff, but as far as I know they haven't done any RTS. I want to know how big a part of the game they are going to be.

Well it's battles. They're going to be as big of a part of the game as it is, depending on how many battles you fight.

Well, I guess what I actually want to know is how good they are going to be. This whole project is so ambitious, even without tactical battles. It seems to me that if anything is not given as much focus, it will be the RTS stuff. I wonder if they're going to consult or hire anyone with RTS experience, maybe someone from the Total War games.

Be careful Ratya48 a lot of anti-RTS guys hang out on this forum and Brad has said Elemental is a TBS game with no "real' RTS elements.

I am one of them. Rather than ranting about real-time "strategy", I will tell you that Brad expressly said Elemental will be entirely TBS.

Something that has been nagging at me...

Sound/Music!

It'll be key what with the art style and all.

Demigod has some pretty good music.   I wonder if Elemental is going to be able to benifit from similar talents.   (I assume the music was related to GPG, but still.)

I can imagine many different kinds of music.  I'd think peace time to include a lot of woodwinds, and tictical battle music to include some soft brass.   Perhaps remixes of music with major and minor keys for good and evil players respectivly.

talking about music. I hope we will be able tyo put our own soundtrack in the game. Meaning listening to my music while I play. Music is all good and fine but when you've been playing the game for years it,s fun to have access to your own music.

Not many games that won;t let you run Media Player or equivalent in the background.

Although actually insering your own songs IS preferable....

Personally, I'd enjoy it if Elemental had a varied and diverse soundtrack. But barring that, I'm with Solam.

I actually usualy turn off most game music, either because I need to hear the phone, it sucks, or I have my own playing in a different program (God bless my beatly PC).

So if there's no RTS, what will the tactical battles be like then? Will they be only observation, or will we be able to select a strategy, like aggressive or defensive?

I am assuming you will still be able to control each unit, just like on the main map.

Something along the lines of qeueing orders for your different units with the possibility of pausing the game to change orders as needed.

It's possible we won't see anything else in terms of updates until the alpha is out. At that point Frogboy can take a couple weeks off from posting, anybody among the regulars here who gets in will be flooding the place with information faster then you can say "sick day!"

I believe it will be almost identical, with perhaps more units/options, to Master of Magic.  I.E.- You move one unit at a time in the tactical map area during combat.  Much like so many games after MoM.  I could be wrong of course.
