Holy Crap That is Jack White!

So I just finished watching Cold Mountain....a romance/drama about the civil war. I could include a number of reactions but I was just so happy to recognize Jack White of the White Stripes who plays a musician named Georgia in the film. His character doesn't show up until the end of the movie but it's a good random part for him. I will also say that all White Stripes fans really should see his chapter of Coffee and Cigarettes when he and Meg White are pining over his Tesla Coil...a scene like no other. A close second is the dialogue between Billy Murray and RZA and GZA of Wu-Tang Clan featuring Bill Murray drinking straight from the coffee pot through most of the scene.

Hopefully I'll run into some poetry inspiration on my bike ride to my midday second job, but hopefully it won't take me off of the bike.

I liked Cold Mountain, everyone else I know who saw it said it was boring..guess I'm just weird!! The song was cool too..

I love that close up on jack in coffee and cigarettes when he has the goggles on..he looks like a mad scientist!!

I think the best scene is the Bill Murray one though...

A close second...? Are you nuts? This scene is hands down the best scene in that movie. Bill Murray, Bill Murray, Bill Murray. Who would have thought that combo of people would click so well on screen. hopefully your overconsumption of caffeine isn't at that level.

I think the idea that everyone in the Tesla Coil scene knows so much about building tesla coils is funnier than the idea that RZA knows so much about alternative medicine. But the carryover of Tom Waites' lines into that scene was excellent.

I havn't talked to many people who appreciate Coffee & Cigarettes. I thought it was brilliant.

I pick and choose the scenes I like in it. Really though, I like how the musicians/actors play themselves but not as they truly are so it's still a character role...it's a really simple, but really interesting concept. Plus, I'm all about making toasts with coffee, and in every scene in coffee and cigarettes there's a "cheers." PS - that new song Brave New World...magnificent
