Custom Equipment

How about a custom equipment system for demigods. You could create as many pieces of equipment you want and use an editor to add/remove attributes. The equipement would be no better than the stuff already in the game. If you wanted to add +4 mana per second to your custom helm, around 550 would be added to the price of the equipment. If you wanted to add 50 armor, whatever amount would be added to the price. To balance things out a little bit, perhaps add a little more to the price if you add distinct attributes. Like a piece of equipment with hp and mana would be more than two pieces, one with just hp and one with just mana (since you're only using 1 slot instead of 2).

Just a thought, what do you guys think?

UPDATE:

Someone mentioned using favor points to create these items. I think that is a great idea, and that lead me to have another thought. How about you create the items with favor points, buy them with favor points, and keep them for multiple matches. Each second (or match) they are in use, they would take damage. You would have to spend favor points to repair them. Maybe if you die, they take 5% damage or something. Obviously this would be pretty overpowered (to start a match with a good set of items), so maybe the better the item (more stats, abilities) the more fragile the item is (hence, it takes more damage and costs more favor points to keep it on).

If you can't afford to keep repairing the item, you could take it off and wait till you earn enough points to repair it, or risk having it be destoryed and be forced to pay the full purchase price again.

Sounds nice. It would be fun if it were a favor item that you could create when you're not in a game, so you would have time to create the item without fear of getting killed.

I didn't think to have it cost favor points, but thats a great idea. Since once you buy all the favor items, the points are worthless.

Yeah I did imagine the creation of the items being outside of a match, then having a shop or something sell them to you inside each match.

I would just make a bunch of items with +30 hp regen that are all differnt and equip them all.

that would be so expensive you couldn't buy it. My original post said that the items wouldn't be any better than things you can already get. Obviously there would be maximums for each stat as well. Nice trolling though

I like the idea of being able to make your own statistics on equipment and it increasing the cost, but I think it could  be waaay too easily abused to pump up a stat very important to certain characters.

Thats a good point. Maybe each class has different costs for each attribute. Maybe regulus would have to pay extra for health, and rook would pay extra for speed, etc.

But the truth is, each attribute is avaliable to every class already, for the same price. Anyone can buy 5 items with +hps, the point is that if you wanted to have that much hps you would have to have only that, or have it be so expensive you can't afford it. It seems to me that it would be extremely easy to balance this type of system, you only can possibly get 200ish favor per match, if a really good piece of eq costs anywhere near 200 favor per match, you would have to win every match, and dominate (to actually get all 200 favor). It seems to me that it would be better for someone to create a decent item that bumps up a little, but doesn't cost so much that you can't use it every round without having to worry about losing a couple matches.

This would be pretty awesome if implemented properly but I think it would be difficult to do because how do you put a value to certain attributes?  HP, mana, hp regen, mana regen, lifesteal, damage, movement speed, attack speed.  It would be tough to put a value on a small amout of them and have it go up proportionatly.

If it was a custom favor item it would have to be something where say you can only make items with the most expensive favor items now (around 2k?).  This way you have 2k worth favor to build your custom item (if you have the favor).  Each person that has this custom item would have the same value and it wouldnt be overpowered which is needed for balance.  I think it would actually make more sense as a new shop in the game that the more money you have the better item you can build.  If the stats are balanced per price it could work.  Also would be nice for templates for future games so you dont have to spend alot of time rebuilding your favorite custom item.

I really like the idea of being able to make your own Favor items, also the topic of normal custom items was discussed extensively during the beta in this excellent thread.

this would break the game, not really a plausable idea.
