Regarding experience cap.

Just a little flavour tweak.

Hey all,

I don't like opening a new topic just for this small idea, but there wasn't a single related topic I could hi-jack to propose this, so pardon me, please.

I think we should allow leveling above 20.

Now let me explain.

I am well aware most games are almost done when some players hit level 20, although not necessarily.

But, we have favor item that increases XP; we have XP flag. There are citadel upgrades that can really boost XP received. Although it might give you an early (and lasting) edge, it will end at one point, when game might be near the end, or not.

I'd love to see those XP upgrades/items still having a use, even after you reach level 20.

To prevent Demigods from becoming real gods in a match and leveling beyond level 21, make reaching of that level 21 really hard.

I didn't see experience charts and how much is needed to level up, but something in the mould of XP required for level 21 to be near to amount of XP needed for levels 19 and 20 combined. Something like that, I am just guessing since I don't know the numbers. Increase it so reaching level 21 is kind of improbable, while reaching level 22 is almost impossible.

That would make people more prone for taking already mentioned XP upgrades, although the gain is far away from being so important in late game. (Although I can imagine a stale mate game with high level players; I've been in similar situations couple of times.) Anyway, knowing you are growing is better than knowing you are done with it, no matter your goal is really distant.

I am yet to meet a person who takes Brilliant Bauble or to play a match where XP citadel upgrade was taken.

I am hoping this might improve it and even add that little flavor which might make you feel little more godlike than the rest of Demigods.

Well, I've just played a game which is perfect to reflect these thoughts of mine.

Cataract - Regulus, Oak and Unclean Beast (me) versus Rook, Erebus and Unclean Beast.

Thanks to an excellent Rook player, they managed to lock us early game (before they even hit level 4-5) and destroyed middle towers + archer towers. It looked like a game over.

We were pushing really hard and we managed to hold them somehow, but it was impossible to hold a single flag for longer than a minute - they were having a real advantage. Still, we did prevent them from attacking our towers, although they were close once again.

I was patiently waiting, carefully killng creeps for XP (we were behind......) and helping in the middle when they would push.

It was not looking good. They upgraded to catapults immediately, while we were trying to get Priests.

It was good as done.

We did the necessary Citadel upgrades and tried to defend and push them back.

When I managed my first Rook kill, things started going easier. Without his tower support, they had to flee, we took over flags and were getting amazing amounts of XP/gold for their creeps.

Rook couldn't get out of his base for a second - I'd use Serpent Sword, spit, foul grasp, run for him, spit, ewwww. I managed to kill him two more times.

Now, we were stacking enormous amounts of gold for killing their creeps (while they had nothing to feed on), so I went for Mage Slayer. To make long story short - the early advantage they had, which was supported by catapults, turned to be their disadvantage, because they could not push through us again, and we were sweeping away their creep waves.

Game became a stalemate.

One death of their DG changed the tide; we were able to rush in and nuke their base.

But it took a while to get to the point of actually being able to do it, and most of DGs were level 20.

Now, when I went to check the Citadel for the last time, believe it or not - almost every single upgrade was maxed out, except experience bonus - not a single upgrade.

I bet I'd see at least one upgrade if we were not capped at level 20.

But I might be wrong.

No the 20 cap is good.

I've always wondered why this wasn't a game setting.  Leave 20 as the default, then allow other options as well.  Also the experience boosting citadel upgrade isn't worthwhile unless you set experience gain rates to slow.  Not worth the gold when you'll be level 20 soon enough anyways.
