Kick Negative SIM

So, last night I played a match where a player had a negative SIM speed. This caused the game to slow down to a crawl and this went on long enough for me to upgrade all of the citadel minions to get to giants. So, approximately half the match was spent in slow-motion.

It's my understanding that the low SIM speed is caused by poor computer performance (can anyone confirm?), but I get the impression that this could somehow be exploited in matches. The game should tally up negative SIM and when the total reaches a certain value the player should be booted from the game.

Yeah.. If someone can't run the game, I don't see why they should get to ruin others experience.  They need to turn their settings down or get out. :\

Good idea, but seeing as they can't figure out how to correctly add favor points, what makes you think they can add up the total negative sim rates? :P

Turning your settings down will likely have little to no effect on sim speed.  Unless they improve the sim speed performance this is always going to be a problem.

Stardock have the minimum and required specs, if people meet these then they should be able to run at a reasonable sim speed, even if the have put graphics quality right down.

I hate to bump, but this is still too relevant. After playing a match I find that It really sucks the life out of the game; even more so when the opponents leave due to the lag.

Just wanted to point out that I do meet and even exceed the minimum requirements, and inexplicably I get low sim speed sometimes...

Minimum requirements means run the game at minimum settings, if you just barely clear them and max it out...

Even if you run everything at minimum settings, and you meet the minimum requirements, you will probably end up with negative sim speed in some games.

Hopefully the beta sound changes help the sim speed a bit.

Well i notice alot more low simspeeds in beta only because there's more 4v4+ games.   As there are more players, bigger maps, it requires more cpu.   If you are aware of ppl with low sim speed, tell them about it, ask them to turn everything down, and tell them to join a smaller map like prison.  you can still do 5v5 on prison.

If they optimize their maps, and fix pathing issues it probably won't be as bad.  In supreme commander a properly optimized map did run better than other maps.

My settings are all at their lowest. My CPU is 2.41 GHz, but I have 2 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA 8600 GE card with 1 GB of video RAM. Maybe my marginal CPU is throttling my PC's performance, but even still I'm surprised that DG is so CPU intensive...

I hope so, though again, aside from my CPU, my PC far exceeds the minimum requirements and even the recommended system specs.
