Hey i am new to the forums i know the basics about the game but do i need to know if i have to download impulse to play the game once i buy it.

Nope, you will not need to download Impulse (unless you bought the digital version of Demigod, in which case I think you probably will :P)

You won't need Impulse to install and play. You will need Impulse to patch.
