EVE Online Question

EVE Online Question

I am considering downloading/buying EVE Online.  But I'm confused what's the difference between buying the premium edition or apocrypha expansion in stores vs. just downloading it for free here:  http://www.eveonline.com/download/

The expansions come with it for free anyway with the subscription.  And why would it cost 40 in the stores when you can just download it for free.

Lost in Los Angeles.

A good FC will find a use for a T1 fitted ship in his or her fleet.  Any FC that tells you otherwise is a) rubbish b ) unimaginative.

And note:  I'm sick of the "BS and BC's shouldn't be flown until you can fully T2 it" meta gaming rubbish people keep spouting, my T1 fitted drake can shrug off 99% of level 3's, The 1% it can't do without hitting max regen it still completes.    Why am I sick of this meta tactic?  It drives the noobs away from the game, and that, will actually kill the game.

Drakes are expecifically forbidden in my alliance fleets, so there you go ;) (who honestly cares in PvP about how many L3 missions a Drake can clean, that's totally unrelated). T1 ships are nearly useless in big snipper fleets as they lack range (T2 ammo) or surviving power (T2 defense mods are much better than T1), and when you have to coordinate 200+ guys, you prefer to fill the limited fleet spots with a T2 ship than with a T1 ship.

And as CmdoColin says, in small gangs things change a lot. In my alliance we do from time to time lol-ops with T1 Frigs/Cruiser sand we have a lot of fun roaming and killing random stuff until someone gets serious and annihilates us.

I miss those times. We did those a lot in GoonSwarm, though when we did the whole Delve invasion thing it kinda had to stop since every night was fleet op night.

Before that, though, one time we went out with about 20 guys, maybe 5-6 battleships in total and the rest frigs/cruisers, and our cov ops found an AFK carrier of a BoB ally outside POS shields (we were basing out of a TCF station in Curse at the time, I think I got the map right, it's been a while since I was out there). It took a while to take it down, and the guy woke up eventually but he was webbed and scrammed and it was too late to do anything... his friends arrived maybe 20 minutes after he went down with a carrier fleet and parked on top of the station in the system, we shot up a bunch of their fighters and went home after they managed to popped the few battleships we had. Stuff like that is fun!

Of course, at that time fleet ops were like ripping your hair out since you sort of flipped a coin on which side would load grid first and thus win. I lost count of how many Megas I lost while in loading limbo and an hour later cloned in station.

Also, T1-snipers can come decently close in performance if you fit them with the best named stuff and the fleet's engagement range doesn't require T2 ammo, but best named T1 mods are not easy to come by in 0.0 so that still doesn't work so well.

Yeah, the Delve invasion is boring as hell. I really hope CCP addresses once for all sovereign mechanics. Thanks our FCs run lol-ops from time to time because killig POSes non-stop is not fun at all.

The biggest problem is as yout say that T1 named mods are hard to get in 0.0 and usually way overpriced. Maybe for RR-gangs is more viable to pilot a BS with T1 equipment.
