This is getting more absurd by the minute.  The Feds think they can create a new revenue source, based entirely on the completely bogus bleatings of esteemed 'scientists' Al Gore, Brad Pitt & Robert Redford.  They have to be smoking something really good to believe taxing cows will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Is the solution truly to eat less beef & drink less milk?  That's going to save the planet?

I think I'll go out to the garage & let a little air out of my tires in protest. >:(

Soon there will be a tax on tax, a air tax, a how many breaths per minute tax, a shoe leather tax {comes from cattle skin}and last but not least a tax on how many times you flush your toilet tax, all the above taxes will be under the tax on taxes rule BTW.

china surely considers climate change a threat as well because of Al Gore and Robert Redford...

And it is different from the normal pablum - how?

IMO, it's not about saving the planet or environmentalism or anything like that.

It's about new sources of revenue. Using the mantra of it's 'for the good of the planet' is a way to try to garner as much approval as possible so as to offend the least amount of people while increasing taxes.

I use to do Casino parties for companies and such.  Usually at hotels.  ONe here in town was especially bad about charging for anything and everything.  SO much so, we coined the phrase "They charge for air and call it atmosphere".

So much for the joke.  Now that the government has made it a reality.

Don't be surprised if something like this actually starts happening.  I read an article not too long ago that was talking about how we are actually running out of drinkable water because we have unchecked population growth.  Kinda odd that a planet that is 70% water is running out of drinkable water.

btw I have absolutely no idea how credible the article was since I can't even remember where I read it.

The planet may have 70% of the surface covered by water, but it is in no way 70% water. Of the water on the planet, 97.2% is in the oceans, salty and undrinkable. 1.8% is in glaciers (also likely to be somewhat salty) and is also undrinkable. This leaves only 1% as groundwater, fresh water, and water vapor. Of that, I would guess 25% is impractical to retreive, and another 25-50% has to be left where it is or the environment around it collapses completely. This leaves between .5% and .25% of the water as available (if my 2 figures are relatively correct). So there only seems to be plenty to go aroundt il you look at the numbers of what is unavailable to us.

Actually - no.  Basic science.  Glaciers are almost pure H2O.  They are formed by freezing fresh water, not salt.  The ice plates at the poles do contain some salt, but far less than the surrounding water, and are easier to desalinate.

The problem with the eco whackos is they are so science illiterate!

They already tried that with the period of Sterilization.  I think it's too contagious to be limited to genetics.
