I love....

true contentment

For those who have read my articles, you may know of the one great force in my life. I'm refering of course to my two year old son. It may seem as though I am always at the end of my rope with him, but the truth is, he is a wonderful child. Disaster stories are just easier to write about....and funnnier.

But part of being a mom is enjoying the quiet moments. When he woke up from his nap today, he climbed on the couch with me and I held him in my arms. That peaceful feeling of a child resting in your arms cannot be replaced by anything else, anywhere.

i love how I could feel his chest rise and fall with every breath.
I love how his skin is so soft and warm.
i love how I fell asleep with him held close, just like when he was a baby.
I love how his tiny arms were wrapped around my arm, holding me tight even in his sleep.
i love how he turned his face toward mine and smiled a sleepy little smile as he woke up.
I love that moment when I was awake and he was still asleep, feeling my child at rest, knowing he felt safe in my arms.
I love that feeling of contentment, realizing that I didn't have to hurry up and go anywhere, that I could relax and enjoy the moment.

I love being a mom.

Oh how I can remember those same feeling that you express so well. I still remember vividly the first time I held my child in my arms. I held him close to me and tiny as he was he wrapped his little arms around my neck and held on tight. I will never forget that feeling of closeness and blessedness. What a gift a child is even when they are now grown and on their own.

Wonderful thoughts LH. There is just something about children, especially your own, that transcends words. They are magic.

I hope I never do. Some things are too precious to lose.

They are magic.
