Ricerider's Suggestions for Intensified gameplay
Buildings, gold mines and landscape
i have probably only been playing the beta for about 48 hours total.. but here are a little things that would surely spruce up the game significantly.
Build Buildings : Some multiplayer battles take a long time. i have been in a few that have lasted well over a 2 hours in 5v5 combat. After each side has pushed back and forth several times, all the towers and defense structures are gone. I think it would be an interesting idea if you could purchase an item, that when activated builds a wall, tower, or some kind of defense structure at a desired location where your Demigod can get to. Making these upgradable too would be an flavorful addition.
What this would allow for is the following:
- Creating a seriously defensible position either around your citadel, gold mine, artifact shop or just to block a path.
- Making the buildings expensive would allow for yet another money sink that would delay players from maxing out with all the best items, or even allowing players to still worry about gold after they have gotten all the best items.
- It would add a little bit more strategy to the game rather than click, kill, move, kill, ability, kill monotony.
Also.. making some of the towers upgradable when interacted with, would strengthen the relationship the players have with the computer forces on their side.
Gold Mines: Hate to say this.. but even before reading other posts, i came to this same idea.
Having a gold caravan that runs between your gold mine and your base is really a neat idea. It gives the game a better feeling of immediacey by reminding you that even if you control the gold mine.. your caravan may not be making it to your base. That can lead to clever strategies involving allowing your opponent to control the gold mine, but killing his caravan heading to his base. An unattentive player would just shrug off that a captured mine will give him income, when in reality someone is stopping it. It also would force players to consistently check on their gold caravan.
Multi-level terrain: I like this idea in that it can be a cause of difficulty that would ultimately prove very interesting. Having even 2 levels, where you cannot see what is going on there makes for intensified gameplay. Imagine your on the first level.. and thats all you see on your minimap as well. You enter the battle and all of a sudden from a ramp to your right comes an opponent's army and demigod coming from the tier above you. Like a suprise attack.
Players on levels should not be able to see what is going on on any other level than the one they are occupying, nor be able to interact with them in any way.
- just my thoughts.
