Only played one game, but the path for trade seemed to be broken, it would not go through a wormhole.
Longest trade path stuff is being changed. It didn't make beta 1 but it's part of something IC is working on and will be in later at some point. 
The longest -lanes do not go throug allied systems (with trade pact and tradepost) either. I do not know if it was any different in 1.1...
