Gamers Bill of Right in Action

I'm not sure if you've heard but EA cancelled the upcoming FPS "Tiberium" due to quality control. Apparently it was not at an acceptable quality level even though the release was sometime early next year. I don't know about you but this sounds like a possible result of the Gamers Bill of Rights. What do you all think?

More likely they just didn't want to loose another Renegade upon the world (and their own pocketbook).

I agree. That was my first thought too. Similar concepts, projected similar (horrid) results.

Yeah, judging from EA's recent behavior, I doubt very much they're even aware of the Gamer's Bill of Rights.

EA think the Gamers Bill of Rights is about a guy named Bill whos a gamer who lives in the town of Rights. They don't understand why everyone is talking about Mr Bill either.

Yeah, it was definantly a "stop the money bleeding now, this isn't worth it" move.

They didn't do Renegade right - Tiberium wasn't going to happen and I knew it.

And as a sidenote - Kryo, are you an old-school C&C/Westwood Studios fan? It would explain a lot

I was rather looking forward to that game. And Renegade did have an interesting multiplayer.

Maybe EA will look up Bill's phone number and call to ask why he's so popular all of the sudden.

Really, I think this whole "gamers Bill of Rights" thing is just silly.

 

Don't get me wrong, I like Stardock as much as the next guy, but to me it just seems like a cheesy public relations stunt meant to showcase the buisness image that Stardock is trying to project, rather than actually accomplishing significant change.

Are they gonna do?  Go beat EA over the head and say "this is the gaming buisness done right!!"?  Would it work if they did?  There are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1) There are a lot of devs and games who think this is a really good idea.

2) Stardock is holding themselves to this bill of rights.

3) Change can start with a single person (or entity in this case).

So, while I agree that this is a PR stunt, I also think that there's meaning behind it, and that Stardock IS trying to accomplish something.

How does the saying go:  "To move a mountain you must start with a single rock."  Or something like that (haven't played Civ 4 in a while).

Or nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Either way, assuming you're making the analogy that Mountain = EA, I'm sure nobody will mind one way or the other

I'd volunteer to do it for them. And as long as somebody picked up the good franchises, I wouldn't miss EA.
