Adding abilities

I'm trying to add an ability to the orgital gauss platforms but i cant get it to show up as an option on the lower left of the HUD to activate it? anyone mind explaining how to do that for me?

Because you probably need to add said ability to any research if one is required, and to the english string.

Word has it that the orbital platforms are hardcoded. So adding abilitys may, or may not work. I havent tried this myself yet, but if you succeed let us know.
