From Cloudcroft

Solitude is Good

With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone from Cloudcroft, New Mexico.

The last two days were spent in solitude sat the Refuge about 20 miles from this Jamoca Bean cafe and Hot Spot.  I have been doing much practice: Cleaning floors, washing dishes, practicing zazen.  I have also been hard at work editing the first section of a draft of my book, Zen Life, which I will be submitting to a publisher soon.

The Refuge is a wonderful place for this sort of practice.  Quiet, apart from others, and deep in the mountains.  There is a long history, you know, of Zen Masters retreating into the wilderness.  Even the Ancient Hebrews did this.  It is all a part of getting oneself closer to the Absolute.

Son Jacob was to arrive a couple of days ago, but the computer in his car was fried.  He will be here today he promises.  Then later in the week son Jason and family will arrive.  So goes solitude.  Yet, it is a happy exchange.

I will connect with you again in another day or so.

May you each be a blessing in the universe.
