Where did my other blog go?

or; at least bloody Live Writer seems to work . . . more or less.

So I've had a bit of time to go over the new JU, and, to be completely honest, I don't like it.  Not really at all.  I've played with all the new functions, and I find it to be unwieldy and I really just preferred the old version.

Let's be honest, though - JU1 is gone forever and that's okay.  I can get over it and used to the poo brown color, I guess.  (Whatever happened to the green in the first screen shots we saw?  Much better than poo brown.)

I have one big issue with JU2, though - it seems as though, try though I might to find it, my other blog - http://the-prog-geek.joeuser.com/ seems to have died ignominiously, never to return.

Now, this is more than a little bothersome.  I had posted dozens of music reviews to that site (as had my site-partner and the actual owner of the original group blog, BlueDev).  Have these all been eaten by the ether?  And what happened to that blog?

Like I said, I can deal with all the other things I hate about JU2 - they're basically just annoyances.  This, however, is more than an annoyance to me, and it's got me kinda upset.  Any idea what happened and how we can have our blog back?

Sincerely and in the poo-est brown possible of JU2,

San Chonino.

And for the record?

I never, ever thought that JU would subject us to big, ugly advertisements with pictures.  Little text ads, okay, I'm used to it.

But the huge "ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer 4" ad is pissing me off hardcore.

Unfortunately, we have to offset costs of the site somehow.  We've been running it for free with virtually no ads for years now, and it's been a constant and ridiculously high drain on servers, people and resources.  People want us to keep the site running, fast, and free.

JoeUser isn't a charity.  It has to make up for it somewhere.

All of the multiple blogs that users had were merged into their last updated blog. If youre finding links from other sites pointed to your articles on your old blog addresses are no longer available or arent being found, please let me know.

Despite the fact that your old blog addresses are no longer in use, all of the articles on the multiple blogs that people had are available on everyone's single blog now.

I know the ice cream is free, and I shouldn't be so bitchy, but the entire blog is missing. Sorry for the terseness of the article and the comment, but I was pretty mad when I realized that.

Oh, no problem on being mad over the articles missing.  I was specifically replying to the comment about the ads.  Andrew was addressing the technical issue of your articles.

Also, to clarify Andrew's comment...

If you have 3 blogs under your account...

Blog A
Blog B
Blog C

All articles from all three were consolidated down to one blog, typically your primary (or first registered).  So lets say Blog A is the last Blog standing on your account.

Any article posted to Blog B or C is now under Blog A.  Links to that article in Google to Blog B or C will automatically redirect.

For example, look at this link specifically:

http://the-prog-geek.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=168826

It's an old link to the old site to one of your collapsed blogs.  If you click on it, it redirects you here:

http://sanchonino.joeuser.com/article/168826

See?  Nothing lost, just not in the place you expected.  Page through your list of articles and you should see everything you posted to any of your old blogs.

Heck, I'd even pay an extra buck or two a month to rid myself of the targeted spam I get deluged with, spam based on my article content here.

Do you mean email spam?

As for a subscription plan for JoeUser?  The site would have to grow drastically in popularity to make that a worthwhile project.  It's an idea we toy with now and then, but with so few users at the moment, it just doesn't justify the cost.

ditto.

I'd pay just to not have to look at the ads and help support the site. It always seems like there is a cash low shortage when it comes time to renew my subscriptions, but I find it. I'm only subscribed at two sites and then there is ODN, but I would happily add JU to my list.

Thanks for the clarification, Zoomba. I know you all have been hard at work at the new JU and I kinda crapped all over it in my post. (It's the poo brown . . . what can I say? Green please)

I would have preferred to keep the two blogs separate, but that just makes more work for you kids. Thanks for what you do at any rate, gentlemen.

But add my name to the "willing to subscribe to avoid ads" list. (Hey, it's why I subscribed to WC - I just couldn't STAND them anymore.) :CONGRAT:

It was more of a vomit green . . . ;)

(So I liked the burnt red of my old blog, okay? Okay?)

I like the brown. It just seems like it's missing something. A little 'highlight' or border or something.

I like the new sidebars very much.

And here I was, saying that I didn't like it when it first came out. And you said, "Nah, you'll get used to it."

Hypocrite.

I like the color scheme. I think it's a little more difficult to get to the forums from the homepage, but here I am, so I guess it's not that bad.

So, I have a question. Why can't I get to "my replies?" Whenever I click, it just refreshes the page I'm on.

I'm annoyed.

Don't pay attention to this, people. I just wanted to put this comic in a place where I won't lose it, because while the language is harsher than I prefer it, the message is intrinsically important.

hehehe...I like that.
