Mullet Stylin'....

This blog is dedicated to the mullet, and all the mullet stylin' dudes...may you wear your mullets with pride (and give the rest of us hours more entertainment)!

First, we have the 'Play some Skynrd, dude!' mullet.  The wearer of this mullet usually owns a Camaro or Firebird and has a penchant for black t shirts and hi-top tennis shoes:

Next, we have the 'I'm just gorgeous' mullet. The wearer of this style can be identified by his excessive use of 'Old Spice' and 'Aqua Net' hairspray, and the exorbitant amount of time he spends in front of the mirror preening.  Can also be found admiring his reflection in store windows:

Here we see the 'Hayseed' mullet, also known as the 'Joe Dirt'.  This is a rarer style than the previous two; in fact it can be argued that this style is nearing extinction.  This wearer can be found anywhere there is a predominace of delapidated pick-up trucks, trailer homes, confederate flags and 'Old Milwaukee' beer.  Usually indigenous to the southern states, however, has been known to migrate north:

Because this is an equal opportunity blog, here we see the female mullet, the 'mulletina'.  As you can see from the background, the wearer of this style can commonly be found in flea markets and thrift stores.

If you have any further styles you wish to submit, please feel free to do so!

Me too!  The thing is...*hangs head in shame*...my mother in law has a 'mulletina'.  A bad one.  Her head looks like a flat-top in the front and her hair reaches her ass in the back.  I saw a T shirt last week that says 'you mom has a mullet' on the front of it...I was going to buy it for my husband!

Thanks for this post

You're very welcome, thanks for commenting!

some years ago, when I saw my mother for the first time in about ten years, she saw my long hair and commented that I could get a "musician's haircut". I didn't know what it was, at first, until she showed me, to which I responded: "You want me to get a MULLET?"

I left the 80's behind in high school, thank you very much.

As did I, Gideon.....but there seems to be a whole segment of the population who are stuck in a time warp.  They still dress and act like it's 1980-something.  I've noticed that these time warps seem to occur more frequently in small, rural towns.  For example, my husband is from Vincennes, Indiana.  Whenever we go there to visit, I notice a disproportionately large amount of mullets being worn.  As I said, my mother in law has a mullet....and my father in law is what I like to call a 'mullet enabler'.  He encourages her to have her hair cut that way.....

I think there ought to be a law against the wearing of mullets.

Indiana, yes...they should change their name from "the Hoosier State" to "The Mullet State". More mullets per capita than Alabama. But whaddya expect? The pride of Indiana is John Mellencamp, a crown prince of the mullet, and they also lay claim to Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart, the NASCAR drivers (a mullet enabling sport if ever there was one).

Oh yeah......my father in law is all about NASCAR.  And fishing...come to think of it, my brother in law has a mullet.

Hey Gideon, you ought to check out that mulletsgalore site.....especially the 'wedding' section....

Wherever there are primer gray camaros....there are mullets

Wherever there are Checker auto parts....there are mullets

Wherever somebody is watching springer...there are mullets

Whenever a Pabst Blue Ribbon is being opened...there are mullets

Wherever a meth lab door is being kicked in...there are mullets

Wherever there is a bad 80's metal band playing Metallica covers....THERE ARE MULLETS!

I rest my case

!!!

This was so funny, dharmagrl. . . . but . . . you're missing the mullet offspring: "baby mullet", also known as the "rat tail". Normal boy's haircut all around, with a long skinny trail of hair down the back . . . also comes in "frosted" or "braid"

I am pretty sure that that is DeBarge, yes...and I think I just established my '80's "street cred" for even REMEMBERING DeBarge ("To the Beat of the Rythm of the Night"; "Who's Holdin' Donna Now?")/

A mullet is often described as "business in the front, party in the back." It occurs when the front half of the head has a (realtively) normal haircut, normally somewhat short. And the back, is, well, long. Ever see the movie "Joe Dirt," or seen commercials for it? The hair that DAvid Spade is sporting is a mullet, as is all the photos dharma posted.
