I'm a freeloader

I feel like a freeloader. I am constantly benefitting from the generosity and good fortune of my friends and family. I simply can not look a gift horse in the mouth, even to be polite.

Examples:
-5 years ago my best friend won a trip to the Bahamas from a radio station. Guess who was her guest.
-Pearl Jam, Marilyn Manson, Billy Joel concerts - all free. Upcoming Kid Rock concert soon to be added to the list.
-Van Halen concert a few weeks back: one friend decides he'd rather not go and gives me his ticket.
-My boyfriend is a bartender. The tenders of other bars who know him typically buy a round or two for his group. Guess who's in that group.
-My niece's Girl Scout troup leader messes up and gives her too many boxes of girl scout cookies. Why yes, I will take that free box off your hands!

Don't get me wrong, I'm ever thankful, and if I ever won tickets or got free cookies, I'd be sharing them too. But I don't call radio stations or play the lottery. Should I have paid the friend for the Van Halen concert ticket? Well, there's a reason I didn't buy myself one in the first place...

I guess what it all amounts to is look out for me. Or, if you have some crap you're looking to get rid of, let me know. I'll probably be happy to take it from you.

You're not a freeloader- you just have a great group of friends and family!  Just be thankful that they like you enough to give you stuff

I wish somebody would have given me Van Halen tickets for free... damn those things are expensive!

mmmmm....girl scout cookies........

Congratulations on your good fortune! What kind of girl scout cookies? I like the shortbreads best. If I may give some unsolicited advise..... Hold on to your thankful attitude when a good gift comes your way. Don't beg for free stuff, but accept it graciously when offered and you will avoid being a freeloader in my book.

Thanks KarmaGirl and Qohelet. You're certainly right, my group is awesome. I suppose they wouldn't offer me stuff if they didn't want to.

Even as I was typing, I remembered that I occasionally win movie premiere passes. I took my boyfriend to see "The Bourne Supremacy" last week, and we all got free Rolling Stone magazines! I took my best friend to see "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" when that came out. What an awesome movie, by the way - especially if you can hear it in surround sound. Check it out some time.

Come to think of it, when is Girl Scout cookie season? Is that coming up soon? I'm going through withdrawal...
My favorite are peanut butter sandwich ones, but I like to try any new ones too.

How was The Bourne Supremacy?  I loved the first one, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how the second would be much different.  Though, I like Matt Damon, so I'll probably see it anyway.

I would say I liked the second as much as the first. Well, I didn't care all that much for either, to be honest with you, but I can see that if you liked the first you'll like the second. And, actually, the second probably has more action.

Awww.... you aren't a freeloader. I would think of it more as "lucky". Those you get goodies from, you contribute to as well. Girl Scout cookie season isn't back until the Springtime unfortunately (just b4 Easter). Heck, I still have boxes of them showing up in both my fridge and freezer.. lol. Keep getting the freebies while ya can.
Although.. I am still jealous about the Bahamas thing...
