Daily Love Tip #86

Breathe In, Breathe Out

Shallow breathing makes you feel tired. It lowers levels of oxygen and raises levels of carbon monoxide in your blood. It can also make your heart rate and blood pressure rise--adding stress on your body. And when you are uptight, it can create friction in the home.

When you feel tension mounting, try this deep-breathing exercise. Put your feet flat on the floor and rest your hands in your lap. Begin to relax your body by dropping your shoulders and closing your eyes. Then take a deep breath through your nose, while slowly counting to four. Exhale through your mouth to a slow count of four. Do this four times. You will feel your body relaxing, your fatigue lifting, and peace filling the atmosphere.

Instead of being uptight and out of sight, be a breath of fresh air in your home.
