A little mix-up I'm trapped in

I have a friend who is a girl. I've known her and been her best friend since she was ten.
I have lots of friends... well, I know lots of boys.
Today the boys called me outside so they could waste my time.
The friend-who-is-a-girl was there.
The boys confronted me and said they heard her say she hates me.
Of course, if the boys were telling the truth, then SHE was a liar, all these years.
If she was telling the truth, that means the BOYS were lying.
Nobody can be trusted!

gossip is a horrendous thing, and there was nothing productive in what the boys were doing. While it is true the friend who is a girl could have said some hurtful things, it betrays a lot about the character of the boys that they would be so eager to bring it to your attention.

I know for a fact that the people on both sides of this issue are lieing at least a bit.

You should just dump all of your current friends and get to work on making a whole group of new ones. (There's no sense being friends with anyone who either gossips, or is the subject of gossip.)

At least that's the most prudent course.
